Frequently Asked Questions

More than most owners estimate, because the cost rarely appears as a line item. An extra revision, a deliverable agreed on a call, one more meeting: each adds days to the project while the price stays fixed. Every extra day carries its share of overhead, including salaries, rent, and software, whether or not anyone invoices for it. A project priced for 20 days that runs 26 pays for those six days out of its own profit. Scope creep is not a client problem. It is a pricing problem that shows up during delivery.
Because the budget is usually set before anyone measures what delivery actually costs. Most prices are built from what feels competitive or what the last project charged, not from direct costs, the real cost of running the business, and a realistic timeline. When the price leaves no room for the days a project really takes, any delay pushes it over. The project did not run over budget. The budget was never built to survive delivery.
Delivery drift is what happens when a project gradually expands beyond its original scope without anyone measuring the financial cost of that expansion. Each individual drift, an extra revision, a delayed handoff, an unplanned owner intervention, feels small and manageable. Accumulated across every project over a year, delivery drift is one of the most significant and least visible causes of margin erosion in owner-led businesses.
Founder dependency is when the business cannot function without the owner present, making decisions, and intervening in delivery. Every hour the owner absorbs to keep work moving is an unpriced, unbilled cost. Every project that stalls waiting for owner input accumulates overhead while revenue sits in unfinished work. Founder dependency is both an operational problem and a financial one, and the two are connected.
